Rachel is interested in the cognitive and neural mechanisms that support memory. How is information encoded, stored, and retrieved? Which parts of the brain are involved in encoding episodic memory? Rachel has done research into the processes involved in recognition memory retrieval, the role of prior familiarity at encoding, and the interplay between working memory and long-term memory. Her current research is investigating the roles of medial temporal lobe subregions in processing item and context information. Rachel is currently funded by a Pathway to Independence grant from NIMH.
