What the Students Have to Say:

The Postdocs

I have interacted closely with quite a few postdocs in my rotations and current lab,. I can truly say that, in every case, I have been very impressed with the prowess they exhibit in their given fields. I've had many very insightful discussions and, in one rotation, received excellent guidance through the completion of a pilot project. It was nice to see that, during rotations, postdoc act as a valuable supplement to and not a substitute for direct instruction from the principal investigator of the lab.

The postdoctoral fellows associated with the Center for Neuroscience have enormously contributed to my doctoral training. I am a member of a larger laboratory and the postdocs have taught me many techniques and skills when the PI is unavailable. They regularly spend time with me answering questions, giving advice, reading my work, and engaging me in interesting scientific discussions. And this is not limited to the postdocs in my lab; postdocs in other labs are also very willing to help students. This is just another example of the close-knit, collaborative community I enjoy in the UC Davis Neuroscience program.

-Jennifer Kelly, Graduate Student in the Amaral Lab I've made good friends with a number of postdocs. They really get involved in the graduate program. You'll see them at journal clubs, student parties, volleyball, and the like. I found them to be an excellent resource. They're very willing to chat up your own research with you and weigh in with their opinion. -Eric Leaver, Graduate Student in the Pappone Lab Back to What the Students Have to Say!
