Year One
 
Fall:  Cellular Neuroscience, Neuroanatomy, Lab Rotation I, Elective Journal Club, Perspectives Seminars
Winter:  Systems Neuroscience, Molecular & Developmental Neuroscience, Lab Rotation II, Elective Journal Club, Perspectives Seminars
Spring:  Cognitive Neuroscience, Molecular & Developmental Neuroscience, Lab Rotation III, Elective Journal Club, Perspectives Seminars
 
Written and oral preliminary exam administered in August/September after the first year. 
Students select a dissertation advisor by the end of their first year.
 
Year Two
 
Fall, Winter, Spring:  Research, Teaching Assistantship, Elective Journal Club, Perspectives Seminars
Completion of thesis proposal by the end of the student's second year. 
Student Advances to Candidacy upon successful defense of thesis proposal.
 
Year Three
 
Fall, Winter, Spring:  Research, Elective Journal Club, Perspectives Seminars and selection of thesis committee
 
Year Four
 
Fall, Winter, Spring:  Research, Elective Journal Club, Perspectives Seminars and annual thesis committee meeting
 
Year Five
 
Fall, Winter, Spring:  Research, Elective Journal Club, Perspectives Seminars and annual thesis committee meeting
Student finalizes research and submits dissertation.
